A good benchmark for big businesses is 1,000,000 kwh of electric consumption annually. At this level, much like any other industry, the potential savings are exponentially greater than that of small to medium sized businesses. This level of consumption lends itself to more creative cost saving measures such as peak shaving, demand response credits and market indexing.

Energy contracts typically fall into fixed, indexed, and or a mixed model using the best of both. However, an indexed approach that relies on the historically low future strips for natural gas and other energy driving commodities, more often than not yeilds higher savings.
